Kitchenette Incubator

From our first busy stall with delicious spiced Swedish rice pudding, wintry chocolates and Asian salads in a freezing cold market at Feast in December 2012 to our last rooftop party on Dalston Roof Park in 2016, Kitchenette was an incubator to several food start-ups.

Among the businesses we’re proud to have supported are:

Theo’s Pizzeria, Kimchinary, Mei Mei’s Street Cart, The Good Egg, LemLem Kitchen, Hank’s Po Boys and Perilla.

We ran three pop-up restaurants – in a beautiful disused Citroen garage in Islington in 2013; in a roadside street food shack in Hackney in 2014, overlooking Regent’s Canal in Ladbroke Grove with Tom Dixon in 2015, where we rotated start-up entrepreneurs on short residencies, giving some of them their first break in the tough world of property in London.

We wrote a book on the role of food in the economy, and held a roundtable at No.10 Downing Street to discuss its findings and recommendations.

And we had some of London’s most inspiring and generous food entrepreneurs come and mentor our entrepreneurs.

Our learnings have helped to develop Kitchenette Karts, a charitable foundation that helps young people from low-income backgrounds get into food entrepreneurship.

From the hundreds of emails we receive we know that the demand for Kitchenette remains strong and we remain passionate about supporting food entrepreneurs.

For now, we have no plans to run another incubator cohort.

Maybe someday we’ll do it again.
